POSITION SUMMARY
Our client has engaged QPT to locate a top notch Maintenance Controls / PLC Technician to support the reliability and performance of industrial automation equipment. This role is primarily on-premises and focused on troubleshooting, testing, and repairing PLC-controlled systems, with occasional local field service support as needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair PLC-controlled manufacturing equipment
- Support day-to-day maintenance of automation, electrical, and control systems
- Perform testing, debugging, and minor program modifications under engineering guidance
- Identify root causes of recurring equipment issues and implement corrective actions
- Support preventive and predictive maintenance activities for control systems
- Work closely with maintenance, engineering, and production teams to minimize downtime
- Provide occasional on-site field service support at nearby customer or facility locations
- Produce timely and detailed service reports
- Document repairs, changes, and troubleshooting activities
- Cooperate with technical team and share information across the organization
- Comprehend customer requirements and make appropriate recommendations
REQUIREMENTS
- Proficiency with at least one PLC platform:
- Mitsubishi
- Allen-Bradley
- Siemens
- Technical Degree &/or PLC Certification/Training preferred
- Strong understanding of industrial electrical and automation systems
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, ladder logic, and control drawings
- Experience troubleshooting sensors, drives, motors, HMIs, and industrial networks preferred
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in maintenance, controls, or industrial automation
- Experience in a manufacturing or production environment strongly preferred
- Ability to troubleshoot independently and work effectively in a fast-paced plant setting
- Must be willing and able to travel approximately 10% of the time (Most travel is local and same-day, occasional overnight travel, week-long travel is rare
