Senior Buyer
This exciting role will be responsible for overseeing the company’s end-to-end procurement for both Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MR&O) materials and Capital Expenditures (CAPEX) related to solar production equipment and facility upgrades. A solid understanding of optimizing supply chains, managing vendors, and acquiring all equipment and maintenance items within a manufacturing environment will be needed to be successful in this role. They are headquartered in the Fort Mill, SC area. The company is a leading designer and manufacturer of solar cells and PV Modules for the renewable energy industry. Responsibilities:
- 1. MR&O Procurement (Primary Focus)
- Source and manage suppliers for MRO materials (spare parts, tools, safety gear, etc.) used in solar PV equipment.
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, and delivery terms for cost-effective, reliable supply.
- Analyze usage data with maintenance teams to forecast demand and maintain optimal inventory.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and IEC standards.
- Streamline the purchase request to purchase order (PR to PO) process.
- 2. CAPEX Procurement (Expanded Role)
- Lead procurement of capital assets: production equipment, facility upgrades, and new technology systems.
- Work with engineering, operations, and finance teams on CAPEX requirements and vendor evaluations.
- Negotiate contracts, leases, and financing for large purchases ($500K+).
- Oversee vendor performance, installation timelines, warranties, and support.
- 3. Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Coordinate with maintenance, engineering, and finance to prioritize MR&O and CAPEX needs.
- Work with logistics and legal on customs, delivery, and contract compliance.
- Report procurement progress, costs, and risk mitigation strategies to leadership.
- 4. Cost Optimization & Compliance
- Consolidate suppliers and leverage volume discounts for MR&O and CAPEX.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, GAAP, and regulations (ITAR, EAR).
- Track KPIs: cost savings, delivery performance, and asset utilization.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, engineering, business, or equivalent work experience (Engineering preferred).
- Minimum 5 years combined experience in MR&O and CAPEX procurement, preferably in manufacturing (solar, semiconductor, or industrial manufacturing strongly preferred).
- Experience managing high-value CAPEX projects ($500K+), including vendor selection, contract negotiation, and project coordination.
- Strong background in MRO and capital equipment procurement.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and procurement tools (e.g., Ariba, Coupa) for inventory and CAPEX tracking.
- Strong financial acumen to evaluate CAPEX proposals, ROI models, and depreciation strategies.
- Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills.
- Strategic mindset with the ability to balance short-term maintenance needs with long-term capital investment goals.
- Ability to balance short-term and long-term procurement strategies.
- Strong problem-solving, detail orientation, and adaptability.
Salary Range:
- $70,000-89,000 per year w/ eligibility for up to 10% annual bonus
