Capital Planning Analyst

A leading, growth-oriented manufacturing organization is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst – Capital Planning to support enterprise-wide capital investment strategy and execution. This role partners closely with operations, engineering, and finance leadership to drive visibility, discipline, and ROI across capital projects. This is a highly visible position with direct interaction with plant leadership and senior finance stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Partner with operations leadership across multiple sites to track and maintain capital project pipelines
Support development of long-range capital investment plans aligned with business strategy
Monitor project performance by tracking commitments, actuals, forecasts, and scope changes
Analyze variances between budget and forecast; identify trends and provide actionable recommendations
Prepare monthly capital reporting packages and executive-level analysis
Assist in evaluating capital projects, including budgeting and return/payback analysis
Ensure post-completion reviews are conducted to assess project effectiveness and ROI
Advise on capital vs. expense classifications, asset categorization, and asset lifecycle events
Maintain capital authorization documentation and governance processes
Support month-end close activities related to capital and fixed assets
Collaborate cross-functionally with accounting, procurement, engineering, and operations teams
Contribute to process improvements and system enhancements related to capital planning and reporting

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
5+ years of experience in financial analysis, capital planning, or project accounting (manufacturing or capital-intensive environment preferred)
Strong understanding of accounting principles, internal controls, and financial reporting processes
Experience analyzing large-scale capital projects and investment performance
