Position Overview
The Business Accountant will support the Controller and leadership team in managing day-to-day accounting operations for a growing construction organization.
This role combines traditional accounting responsibilities with business support functions, requiring strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively with project managers, office staff, and company leadership.
The successful candidate will be a proactive team player who enjoys contributing to the success of the organization and supporting a variety of operational initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Process accounts payable and vendor payments
- Prepare and post journal entries
- Reconcile bank accounts and credit card statements
- Support payroll processing and job cost allocation
- Assist with customer billing and invoicing
- Support month-end close activities
- Prepare financial and operational reports
- Assist with timesheet review and reporting
- Collaborate with project managers on job reporting and financial information
- Support employee onboarding and administrative functions
- Assist with special projects and business initiatives
Qualifications
Required
- 3+ years of accounting experience
- Experience with accounts payable, reconciliations, and general accounting functions
- Proficiency with QuickBooks Online
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Preferred
- Construction industry accounting experience
- Job costing experience
- Payroll processing experience
- Experience with project management software
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business
