Maintenance Worker I (Custodial)

The Custodian is responsible for the cleanliness, sanitation, and upkeep of interior building spaces. This position supports a clean and safe environment for staff, students, visitors, or tenants by performing routine janitorial duties.

Key Responsibilities

Sweep, mop, vacuum, and wax floors.
Clean and sanitize restrooms, including sinks, toilets, mirrors, and floors.
Empty trash receptacles and replace liners.
Clean windows, doors, and interior glass surfaces.
Replenish supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper.
Set up and take down furniture and equipment for events as needed.
Identify and report building maintenance issues.
Lock and unlock buildings and rooms as required.
Follow all health and safety regulations and practices.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED.
Previous janitorial or custodial experience preferred.
Knowledge of cleaning techniques and use of custodial equipment.
Ability to work independently and follow a schedule.
Physical ability to perform manual labor and lift up to 40 lbs.
