Sterling Engineering is seeking an Accounts Payable Specialist to join a dynamic accounting team at a leading manufacturing company. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage a high volume of invoices and payments while maintaining accuracy and efficiency. This is a great opportunity to contribute to a collaborative finance department in a fast-paced environment.
Job Duties:
Process and input approximately 300+ vendor invoices weekly by matching them to packing slips and purchase orders; verify account coding, quantities, and pricing.
Prepare and issue weekly check runs (approximately 150 checks per week), including manual checks as needed.
Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies or returns in a timely and diplomatic manner.
Handle vendor inquiries and issues professionally and efficiently.
Code non-PO invoices and process employee expense reports accurately.
Maintain organized files for paid invoices and perform general office duties including postal machine updates and assigning vendor numbers.
Perform monthly reconciliation of inventory purchases in the general ledger to stockroom receipts.
Apply cash receipts and support other accounting functions as assigned.
Update and maintain Excel spreadsheets including monthly close reports.
Qualifications:
3+ years of Accounts Payable or related experience preferred
Experience with I-Series and Infor XA Power-Link systems strongly desired
Proficient in basic Microsoft Excel functions (data entry, sorting, filtering, etc.)
Strong attention to detail and accuracy with high-volume processing
Effective communication and problem-solving skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate across departments
