The Senior Fire Technician is responsible for the installation, inspection, testing, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of fire suppression systems used on heavy mining equipment and fixed industrial fire protection systems. This role plays a critical part in ensuring compliance with industry regulations while helping mining operations maintain safe and reliable equipment. Payrate Based on Experience $60-$90K
Job Duties
- Install, inspect, test, service, and repair fire suppression systems on heavy mining equipment, including:
- Service and maintain fixed fire protection systems in facilities, conveyor systems, and related infrastructure.
- Conduct routine inspections and testing to verify system performance and compliance.
- Prepare detailed inspection reports, service documentation, and compliance records in accordance with NFPA standards and company procedures.
- Troubleshoot system failures and diagnose issues involving electrical wiring, control circuitry, suppression components, and related equipment.
- Respond to service calls and emergency repair requests to restore system functionality.
- Perform preventive maintenance, including cleaning, calibration, adjustments, and component replacement.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, parts used, and customer interactions.
- Communicate professionally with customers regarding scheduling, inspection findings, recommended repairs, and system upgrades.
- Follow all company safety policies and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
- Represent Hiller professionally while working at customer sites and mining operations.
Qualifications/Job Details
- High school diploma or GED.
- NICET Certification preferred
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability and willingness to travel throughout Colorado for customer support and service work.
- Basic computer skills and ability to complete electronic documentation.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience with fire protection systems in mining, industrial, or heavy equipment environments.
- Knowledge of fire suppression systems, fire extinguishers, and fire alarm systems.
- Mechanical, fabrication, hydraulic, or low-voltage electrical experience.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Previous experience working on heavy equipment, mining machinery, construction equipment, or industrial systems.
Schedule & Travel
This position is based in the Denver, CO area and primarily services mining operations throughout Colorado. Most travel consists of local day trips, with minimal overnight travel required.
