About the Role
The CNC Operator is responsible for operating CNC milling machines, performing basic setups, and ensuring that parts meet quality and production standards. This position requires the ability to follow instructions accurately, make minor offset adjustments, troubleshoot basic issues, and assist with Statistical Process Control (SPC).
Key Responsibilities for Entry Level
- Independently operate CNC mills to produce high-quality parts.
- Inspect parts to verify compliance with specifications, ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and efficiency standards.
- Perform basic machine setups and make necessary offset adjustments.
- Read and interpret simple blueprints to guide machining operations.
- Demonstrate a basic understanding of tooling types and their applications.
- Consistently meet or exceed daily production goals while maintaining low scrap rates.
- Train new operators on basic machining tasks and procedures.
- Use measuring tools and equipment with proficiency to ensure part accuracy.
- Assist with SPC duties and data collection as required.
Key Responsibilities for Experienced CNC
- Independently set up CNC machines, inspect parts, and ensure compliance with safety, quality, and efficiency requirements.
- Plan, organize, and prioritize daily work schedules for team members.
- Perform complex machine setups and optimize machining processes.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical or production issues.
- Write, edit, and optimize CNC programs using G-code.
- Utilize CAD/CAM software to support programming and machining operations.
- Apply advanced knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of tooling, fixtures, and equipment.
- Communicate effectively with all shifts and the CNC Supervisor.
- Attend meetings and represent the CNC department in the Supervisor’s absence.
- Monitor cutter and tooling requirements, reporting needs and concerns promptly.
- Supervise and mentor shift team members, ensuring performance and attendance standards are met.
- Maintain a safe work environment and ensure all safety procedures are followed.
Qualifications for Entry Level
- 1–3 years of experience as a CNC Operator.
- Proven ability to independently run CNC equipment and inspect finished parts.
- Experience working in a manufacturing or machining environment.
- Solid understanding of shop safety protocols and quality standards.
- Reliable attendance and strong attention to detail.
- All shifts open
Qualifications Experience CNC
- Minimum 4 years of experience as a CNC machinist.
- Demonstrated ability to independently set up and operate CNC mills.
- Strong understanding of technical drawings and blueprints.
- Proficient in CNC programming, G-code editing, and CAD/CAM software.
- In-depth knowledge of tooling, fixtures, and machining best practices
