Job Duties
- Install fire alarm systems, control panels, devices, and associated equipment using installation drawings, building plans, and electrical layouts
- Mount sensors and equipment in appropriate locations, including drilling, routing cabling, and accessing elevated or confined areas as needed
- Program and configure Fire Alarm Control Panels (FACPs) using manufacturer software
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, specifications, submittals, and technical manuals
- Perform system testing, troubleshooting, and final system checkout to ensure proper functionality
- Maintain quality workmanship while managing schedules and productivity efficiently
- Inspect job sites and review work orders to determine installation procedures and material requirements
- Complete all required documentation, reports, and project records accurately and on time
- Ensure all work complies with NFPA 72, local building codes, and company standards
- Monitor labor hours and maintain awareness of project budgets and production goals
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures
- Properly maintain company vehicles, lifts, tools, and equipment
Qualifications/Job Details
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Experience installing, servicing, or troubleshooting fire alarm systems in commercial or industrial environments
- Strong understanding of fire alarm codes, standards, and regulations, including NFPA 72
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documents
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to travel to customer sites as needed
- Technical or vocational training in fire alarm systems or related field
- NICET Certification(s)
- Experience with fire alarm programming and integration Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and climb for extended periods
- Comfortable working in commercial, industrial, and outdoor environments
- Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces while using appropriate fall protection and safety equipment
- Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, lifts, and specialty equipment
