Job Title: Computer User Support Specialist

Position Summary:
The Computer User Support Specialist supports the Director of Information Technology in the daily operations of IT systems for the Florida State Guard. This role is responsible for ensuring the effective performance, maintenance, and support of computer systems, hardware, and software. The ideal candidate will provide technical assistance to users, troubleshoot issues, and help maintain a reliable and secure IT environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist the Director of IT with day-to-day IT operations and support functions
Monitor and maintain performance of computer systems and network resources
Perform computer diagnostics and troubleshoot hardware and software issues
Install, configure, and maintain computer systems, operating systems, and applications
Set up and deploy new equipment, including desktops, laptops, printers, and peripherals
Provide technical support to end users, including resolving help desk tickets in a timely manner
Maintain inventory and documentation of IT equipment and systems
Perform routine maintenance and updates on IT equipment to ensure optimal performance
Assist with system backups, security protocols, and data protection measures
Ensure compliance with organizational IT policies and procedures
Coordinate with vendors and service providers as needed
Qualifications:
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
Proven experience in IT support, help desk, or systems administration
Knowledge of Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and common business applications
Familiarity with computer hardware, networking fundamentals, and troubleshooting techniques
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Excellent communication and customer service abilities
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in a government, military, or public sector environment
Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, or similar)
Basic knowledge of cybersecurity principles
