Position Summary
The Electronics Technician will support troubleshooting, repair, and testing of telecommunications equipment to the board and component level under the guidance of senior engineers and technicians.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Education
- Associate degree or technical diploma in Electronics Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Telecommunications, or related field
OR equivalent military or hands-on technical training
Technical Skills
Electronics Fundamentals
- Basic understanding of analog and digital circuit principles
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and PCB layouts
- Understanding of:
- Ohm’s Law and basic circuit analysis
- AC/DC circuits
- Power supplies
- Digital logic fundamentals
Component-Level Knowledge
- Ability to identify and test:
- Resistors, capacitors, inductors
- Diodes and transistors
- Basic ICs
- Familiarity with component datasheets
- Basic fault isolation to board or component level (with supervision)
Test & Measurement Skills
- Hands-on experience using:
- Digital multimeter
- Oscilloscope
- Signal generator (preferred)
- Ability to perform basic signal tracing and voltage/current measurements
- Understanding of safe equipment handling procedures
Telecommunications & RF Exposure (Preferred but Not Required)
- Basic understanding of RF concepts
- Exposure to telecommunications equipment such as routers, radios, or fiber systems
- Awareness of regulatory standards (e.g., Federal Communications Commission (FCC))
Hardware & Repair Skills
- Basic soldering skills (through-hole and surface mount)
- Ability to replace components on printed circuit boards
- Familiarity with ESD-safe handling practices
- Experience using hand tools and rework stations
Software & Digital Skills
- Basic understanding of embedded systems
- Familiarity with serial interfaces (UART, SPI, I2C) preferred
- Basic computer skills (Windows/Linux environment)
- Ability to follow test procedures and log results accurately

- Willingness to learn and accept technical guidance

- Good written and verbal communication skills

Key Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic testing of telecommunications equipment
- Assist in troubleshooting failures to board or component level
- Replace defective components and verify repairs
- Document repair actions and test results
- Follow safety and quality procedures
- Ability to lift equipment up to 45 lbs.
Pay range is $17 to $20 an hour depending on experience
