Summary of Role
The Sr. Production Manager is responsible for overseeing the entire production value stream—from raw material procurement through final product delivery—ensuring optimal performance in safety, quality, cost, and delivery (SQCD), as well as profitability. This role provides strategic leadership, drives operational excellence, and fosters a high-performing team environment aligned with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and manage the production value stream budget, including cost control and financial reporting to achieve targets.
Lead the implementation of operational excellence methodologies to minimize process variation and drive continuous improvement.
Apply Lean principles to eliminate waste and improve operational efficiency.
Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including suppliers and customers.
Promote a culture of continuous improvement and team engagement to consistently meet or exceed SQCD goals.
Define and monitor KPIs for production operations, ensuring consistent communication of performance metrics to leadership.
Ensure compliance with all product safety regulations including FDA, Dairy, HACCP, AIB, and other relevant standards.
Collaborate across departments—such as production, quality, and supply chain—for smooth operations and effective issue resolution.
Communicate effectively with teams and leadership regarding operational challenges, improvements, and performance updates.
Maintain and manage product safety programs in compliance with SQF guidelines.
Lead, coach, and develop team members; support a culture of openness to employee input and ideas.
Develop and implement effective training programs in collaboration with training teams to upskill employees throughout the production stream.
Ensure adherence to company policies and standard operating procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills, Experience, and Education
Associate degree in a Business or Technical field required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
5–7 years of experience in manufacturing.
3–5 years of experience in a managerial or supervisory role, or a comparable combination of education and experience.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong interpersonal and project management skills.
Familiarity with quality control procedures, GMP, and team development strategies.
Demonstrated success using Lean manufacturing tools and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Solid understanding of safety, quality systems, and lean production methodologies.
Strong problem-solving, conflict resolution, and data analysis skills.
Ability to interpret technical, financial, and regulatory documents.
Strong communication skills with the ability to present to leadership and cross-functional teams.
Experience with plastic extrusion or injection molding is a plus.
Ability to perform in a high-energy, fast-paced environment.
