About the Role
ShareSTAFF is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for contract assignments at a state-operated long-term care facility serving veterans in Fort Dodge, KS. In this role, you will provide skilled nursing care to a primarily geriatric resident population, including residents receiving long-term skilled nursing care, short-term post-acute rehabilitation, and memory care. You will complete nursing assessments, administer medications, document in the EMR, oversee the medication room, and coordinate care with physicians, advanced practice providers, therapy services, and the broader multidisciplinary team. What You'll Do
- Provide skilled nursing care to long-term care, short-term rehab, and memory care residents
- Complete nursing assessments on admission and at the cadence required by resident condition and facility policy
- Administer medications and treatments as ordered (oral, IV, intramuscular, subcutaneous); oversee the medication room
- Document all care and resident responses in the facility's electronic medical record at the time services are rendered
- Plan and carry out nursing interventions consistent with the plan of care; recognize and respond to changes in resident condition
- Coordinate care with physicians, advanced practice providers, therapy services, social work, dietary, and other team members
- Serve as shift leader when assigned, providing oversight to LPNs, CNAs, and other nursing staff; make work assignments for the unit
- Respond to medical emergencies and participate in code response per facility protocols
- Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment that supports resident dignity, autonomy, and quality of life
What You Bring - Required
- Active, unrestricted Kansas Registered Nurse (RN) license, Kansas temporary permit, or compact state RN license with authority to practice in Kansas as recognized by the Kansas State Board of Nursing
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Minimum one (1) year of recent RN experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, geriatric care, or comparable post-acute setting
- Ability to work 5x 8-hour or 3x 12-hour shifts, including day, evening, night, or rotating schedules as scheduled
- Must be able to complete pre-placement requirements, including a drug screen approved by the Kansas Department of Administration
What You Bring - Preferred
- Two or more years of long-term care, skilled nursing, or geriatric nursing experience
- Experience with memory care or dementia-trained nursing practices
- Experience caring for veteran populations or in a state-operated healthcare facility
- Charge nurse or shift leader experience overseeing LPNs and CNAs
- Familiarity with PointClickCare, MatrixCare, or other long-term care EMR systems
- Experience with MDS (Minimum Data Set), care planning, and CMS long-term care regulations
- BSN or higher degree
