Temp to Hire

Job Location: Brook Park, OH

Shift: Monday – Friday 7:00am – 3:30pm – Overtime as needed.
Pay Rate: $21/hr to start – more based on Skills, Abilities, and Experience.

Job Overview: We are seeking an experienced and skilled Slitter Operator (Steel) to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of steel slitting machinery and the ability to operate both a 24" and 52" steel slitter. This role will begin with training on a 24" steel slitter, followed by the opportunity to advance to operating a 52" steel slitter. The Steel Slitter Operator will be expected to perform their duties with minimal supervision once trained and will play a key role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the machinery.

This is a small team environment and the ability to work well individually and with others is extremely important.

Key Responsibilities:

Safely learn how to operate a 24" steel slitter during the training phase, and later transition to operating a 52" steel slitter.
Set up and adjust the slitting machines to meet specifications.
Ensure that steel coils are properly loaded onto the slitting machine and ensure consistent coil tension throughout the slitting process.
Monitor machine operations to ensure the production of high-quality slitted steel to specifications.
Troubleshoot and resolve any issues with the machinery or materials promptly to minimize downtime.
Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of the slitting machines to ensure optimal performance.
Maintain accurate records of production quantities, material usage, and downtime.
Follow all safety protocols and company procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
Collaborate with other team members and departments to ensure production schedules are met efficiently.

Qualifications:

Proven experience operating steel slitters or similar machinery (experience with 24" and 52" slitters preferred).
Strong understanding of steel slitting processes and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve operational issues.
Ability to work with minimal supervision after the training period.
Strong attention to detail and ability to ensure product quality and consistency.
Familiarity with basic machine maintenance and safety protocols.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
Ability to lift heavy materials and work in a physically demanding environment.
Flexibility to work in shifts, including potential overtime.

Education & Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous experience in steel slitting or a related manufacturing role is highly preferred.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand, walk, and lift heavy materials for extended periods.
Ability to work in a noisy environment with proper safety gear.
Ability to work in varying temperature conditions as required by the production environment.
