ComResource is looking for a Lead Database Administrator.

We need someone to assist in supervising and managing the daily activities of the Database Administration team, focusing on deployment, configuration, support, and performance improvement of Oracle and MS-SQL databases in a 24x7 production environment.

Responsibilities:

• Supervise daily activities and workflow of the database administration team, providing performance management and feedback.
• Ensure database servers and client installs are appropriately deployed, configured, upgraded, and supported.
• Troubleshoot escalated database issues, provide timely root cause analysis, and perform preventive maintenance.
• Automate system maintenance tasks and perform system copies as needed.
• Develop, manage, test, and execute backup and recovery plans.
• Ensure storage and archiving processes function correctly.
• Maintain database documentation, including data standards, procedures, and data dictionaries.
• Develop capacity plans and oversee execution.
• Manage database security and disaster recovery.
• Evaluate SQL Server performance and implement performance improvements.
• Provide 24x7 on-call support, including after-hours and weekend work as needed.
• Design and develop relational databases for OLTP and OLAP environments, including performance monitoring and tuning.
• Escalate issues to senior technology leadership as needed.
• Prioritize workload and communicate issues clearly.
• Complete additional tasks and travel as required.

Essentials:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent industry experience.
• 8+ years of experience in relational database design, development, and implementation in MS-SQL or Oracle environments.
• Experience leading or supervising database administration teams.
• In-depth experience with programming languages (e.g., C#.NET, Flash, HTML5, Transact SQL).
• Experience administering high-performance, high transaction volume, and highly available OLTP databases.
• Strong database performance monitoring, tuning, and security protocol implementation skills.
• Knowledge of relational database internals, objects, processes, and best practices for availability, performance, and security.
• Experience with high availability tools, particularly Availability Groups.
• Experience writing shell scripts to automate database activities.
• Familiarity with Agile development methodology.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to multitask and perform in a fast-paced, production-critical environment.

Desired:

• Experience with Postgres, MySQL, MariaDB, Oracle, CosmosDB, or Azure.
• Familiarity with CIS and DOD Stig security standards.
• Experience using Azure DevOps for work management.
• Experience in change-controlled environments.
