Job Description: Outside Machinist
Job Summary
As an Outside Machinist you will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliable operation and maintenance of marine machinery, engines, and systems. Your expertise will contribute to the efficient performance of vessels, emphasizing safety, precision, and adherence to industry standards.
Major Duties & Responsibilities
- Remove, repair, overhaul, install and align main propulsion machinery and associated equipment/components. Also remove, repair, overhaul, install and align equipment, associated with auxiliary systems.
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings, technical manuals, hydraulic, and pneumatic diagrams.
- Moves machinery and equipment using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks.
Essential Skills & Experience
- 1-3 years of experience of relevant marine experience preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve complex mechanical issues.
- Thorough understanding of marine engineering principles, systems, and components.
- Ability to rig equipment and machinery in and out of the interior ship compartments.
Safety & Environmental Factors:
All employees are expected to adhere to the company’s safety policies to maintain a safe and healthy work environment. This role involves working under extreme hot or cold conditions and requires the physical ability to stand for the entire shift, use hands for various tasks, ascend stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, and hear. Team members must occasionally lift items weighing up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required include close, distant, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
