Position: Human Resources Administrator
Location: Seattle (Crown Hill)
Schedule: Monday through Friday, business hours
Pay: $28/hr.-$33/hr.

Express Employment Professionals – North Seattle is seeking a HR Administrator for a long‑standing, community‑focused garden retailer located in the Ballard area. They are hiring their first dedicated Human Resources focused employee to administer the systems, processes, and practices that allow their team to thrive.
This role will manage core HR administration, maintain accurate records, support seasonal hiring efforts, administer benefits, and ensure compliance with employment laws and company policies. The HR Administrator will also serve as the internal expert on our HRIS system (UKG) and help establish efficient, people-centered HR processes.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, trustworthy, and proactive. They combine strong technical HR skills with emotional intelligence, professionalism, and a genuine desire to support employees and leadership.
Responsibilities
- Manage HR administration across the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, records management, and employee support
- Serve as the internal administrator for the UKG HRIS/HRMS system
- Support seasonal and ongoing hiring efforts and help ensure a smooth onboarding experience
- Administer employee benefits, including enrollments, changes, and open enrollment coordination
- Serve as a resource for employee questions related to benefits and HR processes
- Maintain accurate HR records and documentation
- Help ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and HR best practices
- Conduct periodic audits of HR files and processes to support compliance and accuracy
- Support internal training, employee development initiatives, and a positive workplace culture
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in HR administration, HR operations, or a similar role
- Experience administering an HRIS/HRMS system (UKG preferred)
- Strong knowledge of employment laws, HR compliance practices, and employee recordkeeping
- Experience with benefits administration, employee onboarding, and HR lifecycle support
- Experience supporting seasonal or high-volume hiring environments
- Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and strong documentation skills
- Strong computer proficiency and ability to work across multiple systems and platforms
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence; collaborative and team-oriented
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and integrity
- Self-starter with a strong work ethic, growth mindset, and ability to work independently
- HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP, or similar) preferred
