Mechanical Assembly / Crate Builder

Overview Summary

Summit Staffing is seeking a Mechanical Assembly / Crate Builder to support production and shipping operations in a hands-on manufacturing environment. In this role, you will build wooden shipping crates, perform mechanical assembly, and ensure products are securely prepared for transport using hand and power tools.

Location: Coppell, Texas
Type: Contract-to-Hire
Pay Range: $17.00 – $20.00/hour

Shift Options:

1st Shift: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM (Monday–Friday)

Key Responsibilities

Build wooden crates for shipping equipment and products
Perform mechanical assembly using hand and power tools
Measure, cut, and assemble materials using a tape measure and tools
Follow blueprints, diagrams, or work instructions accurately
Inspect finished products to ensure quality and durability
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment

Skills & Experience

Experience using hand and power tools required
Ability to accurately read and use a tape measure
Mechanical aptitude and ability to work with basic assembly processes
Experience in manufacturing, assembly, or construction environments preferred
Reliable attendance and strong work ethic

Preferred Qualifications

Experience reading blueprints or technical drawings
Background in woodworking, crating, or mechanical assembly
Previous experience in a production or manufacturing setting

Work Environment

Hands-on manufacturing and warehouse environment
Standing, walking, and using tools throughout the shift
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Exposure to wood materials, tools, and production equipment
Required PPE may include steel-toed shoes and safety gear as assigned
Contract-to-hire opportunity with potential for long-term placement based on performance
