Project Accountant

Debbie’s Staffing is now recruiting a Project Accountant for a client located in Mount Airy, NC.

Pay Rate: $75,000 – $85,000 per year (based on experience)

Schedule: Full-Time | Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Temp-Hire

Job Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Project Accountant to manage the financial aspects of various ongoing projects. The ideal candidate will support financial and accounting activities across corporate and plant operations, ensuring accurate revenue recognition, project cost tracking, and compliance with company policies. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, a solid understanding of accounting principles, and the ability to work collaboratively with multiple departments.

Responsibilities: Project Accounting Support:

Review and validate documentation for new projects to ensure accurate system entry.
Prepare weekly shipment reports and monitor project-related transactions.
Perform ongoing reconciliations between revenue recognition and customer billing.
Ensure timely and accurate booking of plant shipments, invoices, change orders, and returns.
Execute month-end close activities, including project analysis, revenue review, and account reconciliation.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for internal use.
Plant Accounting Support:
Perform general and cost accounting functions related to plant operations.
Monitor departmental expenses, analyze item costs, and conduct inventory reviews.
Manage weekly cycle count program and month-end close processes for assigned locations.
Support preparation of annual budgets and quarterly forecasts.
Travel to plant locations as needed.
Provide additional reporting and analysis as requested.

Position Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration with a strong accounting focus.
2–4 years of accounting experience required.
Experience in a manufacturing environment and knowledge of plant operations is preferred.
Proficiency with accounting software (preferably Oracle) and Microsoft Excel.
Excellent attention to detail and time management skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and collaborate effectively across departments.
