This is not a CNC operator position

Shift: 1st shift 6am to 3pm Monday - Friday | 2nd shift 2:45 pm until 12:45 am Monday - Thursday

Pay: $19 to $24/hr (based on experience)

Job Overview
Operate the tube mill in the most productive and efficient manner to produce a high quality tube. 
Supervise mill crew.

Job Responsibilities 
Report to the mill 15 minutes prior to the shift. Make necessary preparations to ensure continuous production while changing shifts. 
Review mill orders and mill operation with previous shift operator. 
Make quality checks on tubes being produced. 
Ensure that the proper steel is in the floop and the required steel is staged in the floop area. 
Ensure that there is an adequate supply of wood and banding at the cut-off. 
Ensure that all scrap is dumped and hoppers are emptied. 
Certify your micrometers and tape measure with the calibration fixture. Document all findings.
Check for any special requirements or requests on orders and notify your crew members so the necessary preparations can be made. Complete daily production and inspection reports. 
Note all mill downtime and mill operation problems on production report. 
Perform quality checks approximately every 15 minutes and document results on the inspection reports. 
At the end of your shift sign your inspection reports before turning in your paperwork. 
Manage, direct, and train mill personnel as required. 
Ensure all safety procedures and policies are being observed by all crewmembers. 
Make recommendations to management regarding disciplinary action, etc. of employees reporting to him. 
Keep buildings and plant areas secure; gates and doors closed. 
Before the end of the shift, review all areas so they are clean, the scrap is removed, wood and banding is stocked, and the steel is staged for the next shift. 
Clean and organize the work desk before leaving.
If the mill is scheduled for the next shift: 
Meet with the next operator to inform him of the production status. 
Continue mill operations during the shift change; do not turn off the mill. 
Any other assignments given by management as required.  

Qualifications
Must have steel tubing mill machine operator experience
Technical or vocational training in manufacturing or mechanics preferred.
Proven experience as a mill operator or in a similar role within a manufacturing setting.
Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical specifications.
Familiarity with operating and maintaining industrial machinery and tools.
Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to [e.g., 80 lbs.] and standing for extended periods.
Basic computer skills for logging production data or operating automated systems.
Forklift certification or willingness to obtain one (if applicable).
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Commitment to workplace safety and following OSHA regulations.

Work Environment
Fast-paced manufacturing facility with exposure to noise, dust, and heavy machinery.
May require working rotating shifts, overtime, or weekends depending on production needs.

Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and move heavy materials, stand for long periods, and perform repetitive tasks.
Comfortable working in a physically demanding environment with proper safety measures.
