Ship Fitter – 1st & 2nd Shift

Location: Calvert City, KY
Pay Rate: $29 per hour
Schedule: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM

Key Responsibilities

Perform fitting, layout, and fabrication work on ships and barges
Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and work orders
Measure, cut, fit, and align steel components according to specifications
Tack weld parts to secure proper fit-up prior to final welding
Repair and replace structural components such as plates, frames, and bulkheads
Use hand tools, power tools, torches, and measuring equipment safely
Work closely with welders and supervisors to ensure proper assembly and completion
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment

Qualifications

Minimum 2+ years of experience as a fitter in shipyard, barge repair, or marine environments
Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and layout drawings
Experience with structural steel fitting and alignment
Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and cutting equipment
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Ability to work in confined spaces and under various weather conditions
Physically able to stand, bend, lift, and perform demanding work
