The purpose of this position description is to show the position requirements, working conditions and essential functions of the Shipping /Cable/ Shop Order Person.

The Shipping / Cable/Shop Order Assembly Person is responsible for the packing and preparation of shipment and the manufacture of cable assemblies for various departments including preparation, assembly and quality control of any cable or shop order related product. Wrap and band all products. Assembly of shop orders, testing, wrapping, labeling product, use of kanban cards.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

6 – 12 months in cable, electronic or electromechanical assembly in this or a similar manufacturing operation.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

Body Positions: Sitting, standing and lifting.

Body Movements: Walking, standing, reaching, grasping, bending and flexing arms, wrists, hand and fingers, turning head and torso. Able to lift and carry a minimum of 40 lbs with heavy lifting required. A high level of manual dexterity is required, and the person must be able to work standing for long periods.

Body Senses: Must have sight and hearing commensurate with the obligations of the position.

Language: Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing in the language understood and used in the area well enough to understand instructions and communicate potential problems.

Computers: Must be able to use the shipping and forwarding software supplied by various carriers and the installed manufacturing software.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is carried out in a manufacturing plant with the accompanying hazards of moving equipment, noise, dust drafts, fumes, and airborne particles. Normal workdays are eight hours in length five days a week. Overtime working may be required at times.
