EHS Program Specialist
Location: Irving, TX
Employment Type: Direct Hire
Compensation: $80,000 per year
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 7:00 AM–3:30 PM
About the Role
Penmac Staffing is seeking a driven and hands-on EHS Program Specialist to design, implement, and lead a comprehensive Environmental, Health, and Safety program from the ground up. This direct-hire opportunity is ideal for a safety professional who thrives in active industrial environments and is ready to take ownership of building a sustainable safety culture—not simply maintaining an existing program.
This role supports both shop and field operations and requires daily engagement with operations teams. The EHS Program Specialist will be highly visible, collaborative, and instrumental in creating safe, efficient, and compliant work environments. Competitive base compensation with performance-based bonus potential.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and manage a company-wide EHS program aligned with OSHA and industry standards
- Conduct routine shop floor inspections and formal safety audits
- Perform occasional field audits, including visits to customer job sites
- Lead incident and near-miss investigations, identify root causes, and drive corrective actions
- Develop and deliver safety training programs (LOTO, PPE, Hazard Communication, etc.)
- Maintain all safety documentation and compliance records (OSHA, ISNet, and related systems)
- Partner with supervisors and frontline employees to identify hazards and correct unsafe behaviors
- Serve as a trusted, visible EHS resource across operations
Travel Requirements
- Infrequent travel required
- Approximately 1–2 field audit trips per year
- Travel consists of one-day onsite visits to customer locations within North America
Work Environment
This is a hands-on, field-forward role, not a desk-only position. The EHS Program Specialist will:
- Be present on the shop floor daily
- Conduct periodic field and job-site audits
- Work directly with production, maintenance, and operations teams in a fast-paced industrial environment
Qualifications
Required:
- Degree in Safety, Occupational Health, Industrial Technology, or a related field OR 5+ years of equivalent EHS experience
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Willingness to work hands-on in both shop and field environments
- Ability to enforce safety standards while maintaining a respectful, team-oriented approach
Preferred:
- Experience in manufacturing, construction, or industrial settings
- OSHA 10 and/or OSHA 30 certification
- Working knowledge of LOTO, confined space entry, and machine safety
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred
What Success Looks Like
- A practical, effective EHS program tailored to real-world operations
- Increased safety awareness and accountability across teams
- Reduced incidents through proactive training, engagement, and prevention
This Role Is Not Ideal For Someone Who…
- Is seeking a paperwork-only or compliance-maintenance position
- Prefers limited involvement with shop or field operations
- Is uncomfortable building systems and processes from the ground up
We are looking for an EHS professional who takes ownership, leads by example, and is comfortable being visible and engaged in daily operations.
