Penmac Staffing is hiring a Part Time Staffing Specialist to support recruiting, hiring, and customer service for our clients and associates in Brainerd, MN. As a Staffing Specialist, you are the connection point between job seekers and businesses in our community. You’ll recruit and hire employees for temporary, temp-to-hire, and direct-hire opportunities while building strong relationships with both clients and associates. This role blends recruiting, customer service, problem-solving, and operations. One minute you’re interviewing a candidate. The next, you’re helping a client fill an urgent order. It’s fast-paced, people-focused, and never boring.
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 12:00 PM–5:00 PM
Pay: $17 - $19 / hr depending on experience

What you’ll do as a Staffing Specialist:
- Recruit, screen, and interview applicants. Evaluate job skills for placement at the proper assignment.
- Complete a minimum of two (2) reference checks on all applicants including the last position held and longest position held.
- Work with associates and clients in scheduling interviews, reviewing background checks and drug screening results, preparing offers, completing new hire paperwork, conducting employee orientations, monitoring employee performance, testing and training specified by clients, and providing follow-up customer service.
- Clearly communicate job expectations, pay, schedules, and company policies.
- Partner with local businesses to understand their workforce needs; develop relationships with client hiring managers; and maintain regular follow-up with clients to ensure satisfaction and address concerns.
- Ensure all orders are promptly filled to clients’ satisfaction.
- Help manage daily staffing activity and ensure accurate documentation.
- Provide excellent customer service to clients and candidates; and communicate with others in a calm, positive, and professional manner.
Additional responsibilities (i.e. payroll, unemployment claims, workers’ compensation) may be assigned as deemed necessary.
What we’re looking for:
- Experience in recruiting, staffing, high-volume hiring, retail, hospitality, or customer service is preferred.
- Strong communication skills — both written and verbal.
- Organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Comfortable making decisions in a fast-moving environment.
- Professional, calm, and solution-focused.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to handle difficult conversations with confidence.
- Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn staffing software systems.
