Position Overview
A private high-net-worth couple is seeking an experienced and hands-on House Manager / Personal Assistant to oversee daily household operations while providing direct personal support to the principals. This role requires prior experience working closely with the female principal, managing a small household staff, and coordinating with an off-site Chief of Staff based in the Midwest.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, service-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, formal home environment. This position blends household management, hospitality, and administrative responsibilities and requires strong leadership, discretion, and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily household operations and supervise a small staff of two housekeepers
- Manage household schedules, staff coordination, and daily workflows
- Serve as the primary liaison between the residence and the family office, working closely with the Chief of Staff
- Coordinate and manage all household vendors, including negotiations and service oversight
- Schedule and supervise preventative maintenance for property systems (HVAC, security, AV, generators, lighting, irrigation, pest control, etc.)
- Conduct regular walkthroughs to ensure the residence meets premier standards of presentation and maintenance
- Manage household inventory, procurement of supplies, and equipment needs
- Shop for food and household supplies when the chef is not in residence
- Assist with planning and executing in-home events, from formal dinners to informal gatherings
- Set formal dining tables and provide light service for small dinners when required
- Maintain wine cellar inventory (eSommelier experience a plus)
- Manage and organize physical, digital, and photographic household records
- Support both principals with ad hoc projects, research, and personal tasks
- Maintain expertise in caring for antiques, fine art, silver, and high-value household items
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a formal private household with staff
- Excellent references from all former employers
- Proven experience managing household employees and vendors
- Strong background in hospitality and formal service standards
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Highly organized with strong project and time management abilities
- Tech-savvy, with experience using smart home systems and digital tools
- Ability to take direction from off-site leadership and respond with urgency
- Professional, discreet, and capable of working with diverse personalities
- Valid U.S. work authorization
- Valid Driver’s license
