Our client is currently seeking a Part-Time Data Collector to work on a research project. The Data Collector will work with 1st grade students in various schools in Kenai Peninsula Borough School District to assess students’ reading abilities.
The Data Collector may also do some double coding of other data collectors’ assessments. Some schools may allow remote double coding.
NOTE: This is a short-term position. We are looking to hire someone to train in April, 2026. Data collection will take place over an approximate 2-week period in May, 2026. The project ends after this school year.
Data Collectors can expect to work approximately 10-20 hours per week during data collection. This position will require traveling between schools on the peninsula.
The approximate geographical region covered by this position is Ninilchik to Homer. There may also be opportunities to travel farther within the peninsula. All mileage will be reimbursed at the government rate. For distance trips, all travel expenses will be paid. The pay rate starts at $24.00 per hour.
Project Bonus Completion If you complete the project in good standing, you will be paid a $300 bonus. Good standing means consistently reporting to all scheduled shifts on time, following company and client policies, completing assigned duties as instructed, maintaining professional conduct, not being subject to disciplinary action or early removal from the assignment due to performance, attendance, or policy violations, and completing the assignment in May 2026.
Requirements of a Part-Data Collector
Must be able to work weekdays during school hours
Able to work approximately 10-20 hours per week for 2 weeks in late April to mid-May, 2026
Able to travel to schools across the Kenai Peninsula (travel expenses will be reimbursed)
Comfortable working in a school setting
Able to adhere to rigorous assessment and observation protocols
Basic computer skills required
Successfully complete mandatory paid, virtual training. Trainings will require watching videos and meeting with RAND staff.
Have a valid driver’s license, dependable car, and proof of auto insurance
Preferred Qualifications
Continued employment eligibility is contingent upon successful completion of mandatory training, verified reference checks, a DMV background check, and criminal background check including Megan’s Law.
