What You’ll Do
- Analyze job cost activity, pay applications, and project financial reports to uncover meaningful performance insights.
- Review contract amounts, approved changes, and billing details to confirm financial records are aligned and accurate.
- Compare projected cost-to-complete figures against actual results to highlight gaps, trends, and developing concerns.
- Examine project data closely to identify cost variances, performance patterns, and opportunities for course correction.
- Work extensively in Excel to organize, clean, and interpret large volumes of project-related financial information.
- Help build and refine reporting tools, templates, and dashboard-style outputs that improve visibility for leadership.
- Partner with Project Managers to clarify numbers, discuss job-specific conditions, and support informed operational decisions.
- Translate detailed financial findings into clear, useful insights that stakeholders can act on quickly.
- Support the development of more consistent review methods for tracking project performance across the organization.
To Be Successful in This Role, You'll Bring:
- 5+ years of directly relevant experience in financial analysis, project-based accounting, cost accounting; construction industry exposure is preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting or a strong track record of equivalent, relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
- Strong knowledge of data analysis, job costing principles, project financial structures, and reporting concepts.
- Advanced Excel skills, including VLOOKUP or XLOOKUP, SUMIF or SUMIFS, pivot tables, structured tables, and analysis of large data sets.
- Experience organizing and cleaning data efficiently so it can be used for meaningful reporting and decision support.
- Familiarity with reporting platforms or dashboard tools such as Power BI is helpful, though not required.
- A naturally inquisitive mindset with the confidence to dig deeper, ask smart questions.
- Collaborative mindset with low ego, a genuine interest in supporting Operations, Accounting & Finance, and project teams to achieve shared goals, and the ability to receive and apply constructive criticism positively.
