General Labor

Openwork is currently engaged in search to find a General Labor in South Austin. In this role, you’ll be responsible for stocking and organizing building materials such as doors, windows, drywall, and hardware. The ideal candidate will assist with receiving shipments, preparing materials for delivery or pickup, and maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.

As a General Labor you’ll be responsible for

Load and unload building materials, including doors, windows, drywall, and hardware
Stock, organize, and rotate inventory in the warehouse or yard according to company standards
Assist with staging and preparing materials for customer orders, deliveries, or pickups
Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, or other material handling equipment (training provided if needed)
Inspect materials for damage or shortages and report discrepancies to the supervisor
Maintain clean and safe work areas, following all safety guidelines and procedures
Assist with inventory counts and basic warehouse organization tasks
Support delivery drivers and other team members as needed

What you’ll need:

Previous experience in a warehouse, construction supply, or building materials environment preferred
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions
Basic knowledge of building materials (doors, windows, drywall, lumber, hardware) is a plus
Willingness to learn and follow direction in a fast-paced setting
Forklift certification a plus (or willingness to be trained)
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety

Perks:

Hourly rate of $17-$19 an hour based on experience
