The Food Service Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the hospital cafeteria, ensuring high standards of food quality, service, and sanitation. This role involves managing staff, coordinating meal preparation, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
Supervisor of Food Services Key Responsibilities:
- Staff Management: Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate food service workers. Schedule shifts and assign tasks to ensure efficient operation.
- Menu Planning: Collaborate with dietitians to develop nutritious and appealing menus for patients, staff, and visitors. Adjust menus based on dietary restrictions and preferences.
- Food Preparation and Service: Oversee the preparation, cooking, and serving of meals. Ensure food is prepared according to recipes and dietary guidelines.
- Inventory Management: Monitor food and supply inventories. Order supplies and manage budget to minimize waste and control costs.
- Quality Control: Ensure all food service areas meet health department regulations and hospital standards. Conduct regular inspections and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Customer Service: Address and resolve customer complaints and concerns. Ensure a positive dining experience for all patrons.
- Safety and Sanitation: Maintain a clean and safe work environment. Ensure all staff follow proper food handling and sanitation procedures.
- Administrative Duties: Maintain records of food service operations, including inventory, budgets, and staff performance. Prepare reports as required.
Supervisor of Food Services Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or GED required. Associate degree in Food Service Management or related field preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in food service, preferably in a healthcare setting.
- Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Knowledge of food safety regulations and nutrition therapy.
- Food Handlers License
