A SMT Technician is responsible for Identifying and placing components on printed circuit boards and assemblies with surface mount technology. They also take part in other production operations as needed.
Responsibilities Include:
- FUJI machine placement
- Reading and understanding customer notes, drawings, bills of material and CO-AX processes.
- Using computers and computer systems (including hardware and software) to program, set up functions, enter data, or process information.
- Developing and/or maintaining programs associated with surface mount machines.
- Setting up SMT production equipment and machinery.
- Reading and understanding the different characteristics of solder paste.
- Understanding polarity/orientation, package size and values of components.
- Using precision measuring tools or equipment.
- Loading or unloading materials or PCB into machinery.
- Using re-flow soldering machines.
- Placing paste and components using SMT machines and/or by hand.
- Positioning, aligning, and adjusting PCB and component parts to facilitate assembly.
- Conducting trial runs before soldering and make necessary adjustments.
- Correcting problems by adjusting controls or stopping machines.
- Monitoring all aspects of machines during the assembly process.
- Observing and listening to operating machines or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions and to determine the need for adjustments or repairs.
- Examining products or work to verify conformance to specifications.
- Marking and tagging components so that stock inventory can be tracked and identified.
- Counting finished product.
- Maintaining production or work records.
- Attaching or marking identification onto products and/or containers.
- Cleaning and maintaining work area and equipment.
- Other duties as assigned
Education and Experience:
- A high school education or equivalent
- Manufacturing experience and/or willingness to learn the position
