Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medical Billing and Coding Specialist to join our healthcare team in Houston, TX. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in resolving billing issues, insurance rejections, and denials, with a strong background in working with Medicaid and other governmental and commercial carriers. You’ll play a key role in ensuring accurate billing, coding, and reimbursement while collaborating closely with clinical and administrative staff

Responsibilities:

Work with Medicaid, Medicare, and commercial payers to resolve claim errors.
Review billing charges and other related data for accuracy and potential reimbursement enhancement.
Obtain complete diagnosis and documentation from providers and support staff to ensure proper coding.
Respond to inquiries from staff, insurance carriers, and clients regarding billing and coding.
Run, review, and summarize reports related to billing, reimbursement, and accounts receivable.
Collaborate with clinical and health information systems staff to update billing/coding processes in the electronic billing system.
Ensure all services are coded and billed in a timely and accurate manner as part of a cross-functional team.
Provide feedback on process improvements to enhance charge capture, reduce denials, and optimize reimbursement.

Qualifications and Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent
Active Billing and Coding Certification (CPC, CCS, CMC, or similar)
Minimum of 5 years of experience in medical billing, including denial resolution
Preferred: 3 years of experience billing and coding using an Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system

Benefits and Perks:

If you are hired, your base salary will be determined based on factors such as individual skills, qualifications, experience, and geographic location. In addition, we also believe in the importance of pay equity and consider the internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the full base salary range for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future & continued salary growth
