A prominent Providence-based non-profit is seeking a focused Junior Accountant to join their mission-driven finance team. In this role, you will do more than manage books—you will serve as the financial foundation for an organization dedicated to making a meaningful impact throughout the Rhode Island community.

Compensation & Benefits
Pay Range: $52,000 – $55,000 per year

Core Responsibilities of the Junior Accountant
Ledger Maintenance: Record daily financial transactions to ensure the general ledger remains accurate and current.
Accounts Payable: Manage AP processes, including invoice verification, approval tracking, and ensuring timely vendor payments.
Accounts Receivable: Oversee AR by creating client or patient invoices, monitoring incoming funds, and resolving past-due accounts.
Reconciliations: Perform monthly bank reconciliations to identify and address any financial discrepancies.
Month-End Support: Prepare and post journal entries for accruals, prepayments, and depreciation to assist in the closing process.
Financial Reporting: Assist in drafting core reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow summaries.
Audit Preparation: Organize necessary documentation and schedules for internal and external auditors during annual reviews.
Expense Management: Review and process employee expense reports to maintain compliance with organizational policies.
Data Integrity: Utilize accounting software and advanced Excel functions to manage, analyze, and secure large financial datasets.
Qualifications of the Junior Accountant
Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business field is strictly required.
Experience: 0–2 years of professional accounting experience (ideal for entry-level candidates).
Technical Skills: High proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential (experience with VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, and data modeling is required).
Knowledge Base: A strong foundational grasp of GAAP and the standard accounting cycle.
Software: Familiarity with ERP systems or accounting platforms (such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage, or SAP) is a significant advantage.
Detail-Oriented: Exceptional accuracy in data entry and financial record-keeping.
Communication: Ability to clearly explain complex financial data to non-finance colleagues.
Time Management: Proven ability to meet strict deadlines, particularly during high-volume month-end or year-end close periods.
