Job Overview
Madison Approach Staffing is recruiting for an Administrative Assistant to support Medical Staff Credentialing operations for our client's healthcare network. This temporary role is critical to managing increased workload associated with medical staff credentialing while maintaining day-to-day Medical Staff office operations. The ideal candidate is highly computer-proficient with advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with database data entry. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, ability to manage high-volume documentation, and understanding of credentialing processes and compliance requirements. This is a 6-month temporary assignment.
Key Responsibilities
- Enter and maintain credentialing data in medical staff databases with high degree of accuracy
- Process credentialing applications, reappointments, and renewal documentation for physicians and medical staff
- Verify licenses, certifications, and credentials through primary source verification
- Track and monitor expiration dates for licenses, certifications, and credentialing renewals
- Organize and maintain credentialing files ensuring completeness and compliance
- Prepare credentialing reports and track status of applications using Excel
- Support day-to-day Medical Staff office operations including correspondence, filing, and documentation
- Assist with credentialing committee preparation including compiling materials and documentation
- Maintain confidential provider information in compliance with privacy regulations
- Coordinate with medical staff office team to ensure timely processing of credentialing activities
- Respond to credentialing inquiries from providers and department staff
- Perform other administrative duties as assigned to support Medical Staff operations
Required Skills & Experience
- Computer Proficiency: 100% computer-efficient with exceptional typing and data entry skills
- Excel Expertise: Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel including formulas, data manipulation, sorting, filtering, and reporting
- Database Experience: Strong database data entry experience with demonstrated accuracy (strongly preferred)
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous accuracy when entering data and reviewing credentialing documentation
- Organization: Excellent organizational skills with ability to manage high-volume workload and multiple priorities
- Technology: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook) and ability to learn credentialing software systems
- Confidentiality: Understanding of HIPAA and ability to handle sensitive provider information with discretion
- Communication: Professional written and verbal communication skills
- Independence: Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while meeting deadlines
- Adaptability: Flexibility to handle increased workload and changing priorities
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Previous medical credentialing experience or credentialing support
- Experience with credentialing databases or medical staff office systems
- Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare licensing requirements
- Familiarity with Joint Commission, CMS, or state credentialing standards
- Experience in healthcare administrative support role
- Understanding of primary source verification processes
- Experience tracking multiple deadlines and renewal dates
