Employee Relations Business Partner Job Summary
Under direction, is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources office within a client department by interpreting, administering and ensuring compliance with labor law and company’s policies, procedures, and programs. Asses and
anticipates Human Resources needs of the assigned department and proactively communicates the needs of the client department throughout Human Resources. Acts as an internal consultant to client departments' leadership team to assist in achievement of their strategic goals. Working conditions are primarily inside an office environment. May
exercise direct supervision over assigned staff.

Employee Relations Business Partner Essential Job Functions
•    Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues by conducting effective, thorough, and objective investigations for working condition complaints, disciplinary actions, EEO complaints, and grievances.
•    Analyzes trends and metrics to develop solutions, programs, and policies for the client department(s).
•    Provides guidance and input on departmental business unit reorganizations, workforce planning, succession planning and other related matters.
•    Manage client relationships by setting expectations; communicating project status and issues; resolving concerns; analyzing issues; preparing reports; and meeting or exceeding client expectations.
•    Assists in identifying training needs and facilitates or coordinates training for client department(s).
•    Keeps department apprised of vacancies, affirmative action goals, workers' compensation experience, and turnover.
•    Serves as a consultant to department management on all Human Resources related issues and ensures department is compliant with established policies and procedures.
•    Serves as a resource to employees regarding workplace questions and concerns.
•    Acts as a liaison between department management and employees, including any union representation.
•    Provides performance management guidance to line management (coaching,
•    counseling, career development, and disciplinary actions).
•    May be responsible for providing departmental transactional support.
•    Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.

Employee Relations Business Partner Job Requirements
•    Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
•    Two (2) years of progressively responsible professional experience in Human Resources or related field.
•    Applicants for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility. Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, the following will result in being disqualified for this position: Felony Convictions, Felony Deferred Adjudication, Class A & B Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication, Class B Misdemeanor Convictions, an Open Arrest for Any Criminal Offense (Felony or Misdemeanor), and Family Violence Convictions.
•    Valid Class 'C' Texas Driver's License.

Employee Relations Business Partner Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
•    Knowledge of related employment law and policies, such as the Fair Labor Standards Act, Equal Employment Opportunity, and the American with Disabilities Act.
•    Knowledge of statistical analysis methods and basic mathematical skills.
•    Knowledge of position/job analysis and labor market survey procedures and techniques.
•    Knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees which reduces legal risks and ensures regulatory compliance.
•    Skill in utilizing personal computers and associated MS Windows software applications (e.g., Word, Excel, and Access) in the completion of assignments.
•    Ability to operate a computer keyboard and other basic office equipment.
•    Ability to supervise, train, and evaluate staff.
•    Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
•    Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision, and use rational judgment in making work-related decisions.
•    Ability to analyze complex data and develop clear and concise written reports and presentations.
•    Ability to plan and coordinate complex assignments, utilizing additional staff, if necessary.
•    Ability to protect the organization's value by keeping information confidential.
•    Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the general public.
Ability to maintain an effective level of business literacy about client department's strategic goals, financial position, service delivery and culture.
