Entry-Level CAD Technician
(AutoCAD 2D)
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated entry-level CAD Drafter to support utility and civil design projects. This role is ideal for a recent graduate or early-career professional with foundational AutoCAD experience who is eager to learn and grow in a technical drafting environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Utilize AutoCAD 2D to convert hand-marked field drawings and annotated PDFs into accurate, clean as-built plans
- Interpret civil and utility plan drawings, including dimension callouts (e.g., distances from edge of pavement, centerlines, etc.)
- Place and label standard utility symbols based on provided legends and reference materials
- Work from field-marked documents that include coordinates, pipe designations, and fitting callouts
- Accurately input and maintain detailed attributes such as pipe size, material, pressure class, and depth
- Ensure all drawings are completed with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
Qualifications
- Basic experience with AutoCAD 2D (coursework or internship experience acceptable)
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, particularly in civil or utility contexts
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and drafting work
- Comfortable working with annotated PDFs and transferring information into CAD systems
- Familiarity with utility or civil drafting environments preferred
- Exposure to gas utility drafting is a plus, but not required
- Quick learner with the ability to apply new concepts and standards independently
