Substitute Paraprofessional

Penmac Education Staffing is now hiring Substitute Paraprofessionals for the North Kansas City School District. Penmac provides training and ongoing support to substitute paraprofessionals to ensure you have the tools and skills needed to succeed in the classroom. Penmac offers weekly pay and an affordable health insurance option with no waiting period.

Pay starts at $15 per hour, but may be more, depending on length of the assignment.

Responsibilities of a Substitute Teacher include:

Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher.
Operates and cares for equipment used in the classroom for instructional purposes.
Helps students master equipment or instructional materials assigned by the teacher.
Guides independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up and assigned by the teacher.
Assists with the supervision of students at all times and including emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, and field trips.
Assists with such large group activities as drill work, reading aloud, and story-telling.
Reads to students listen to students read and participates in other forms of oral communication with students.
Checks notebooks, and correct papers, and supervises testing and make-up work, as assigned by the teacher.
Checks and records student attendance.
Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentially of information about students as is expected of a fully licensed teacher.
Assists students in self-monitoring strategies, de-escalation techniques, navigating the environment, and assistive technology devices
Assists students while they are experiencing a crisis
Assists teachers while they are working with students in crises
Demonstrates effective human relations and communication skills.
Adheres to good safety practices.

To become a Substitute Paraprofessional, you must:

Have at least 36 college credit hours (in any subject) OR complete an online training program designated by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. College credit hours are NOT required!
Obtain a Missouri Teaching License or Substitute Certificate
Complete a fingerprint background check (Contact Penmac before completing this step for more details)
Complete required training provided by Penmac.
