Job Description: Shipyard Painter Blaster
Job Summary
Painter / Blasters have the responsibility to perform blasting and painting utilizing marine coating to specified contract requirements. Understanding of blasting and painting specifications including but not limited to blast profiles, millage requirements, ect. Perform blasting and painting applications as directed by supervision. Testing will consist of the ability to hook up airlines to the manifold and spray horizontal, vertical and side to side. - Able to sand blast and demonstrate how to utilize each part of the blast equipment.
Major Duties & Responsibilities
- Must have the following certs: c7, c12, c14
- Must be able to perform all blast requirements and functions utilizing all applications. - Identify and correct blast and paint deficiencies as required by the contract specifications.
- Prepare surfaces for spray painting through cleaning, sanding, and priming to ensure optimal adherence of the paint, following Navy-specific standards for surface preparation.
- Mix and apply paints and coatings according to specified military standards (such as MIL-STD-248D and MIL-STD-1623E), using spray painting equipment to achieve a high-quality finish.
- Ensure proper ventilation and respiratory protection while working, following all safety guidelines meticulously.
- Conduct regular maintenance and cleaning of spray-painting equipment to ensure its longevity and functional capability.
- Collaborate with a team to complete large scale painting projects, ensuring consistency and quality across all work.
- Inspect finished work for conformance to standards, conducting touch-up work as necessary to maintain high-quality finishes.
- Stay updated with the latest Navy and military specifications and standards, applying this knowledge to daily responsibilities.
Essential Skills & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in spray painting, ideally in a shipyard or naval environment.
- Familiarity with military or navy specifications and standards related to painting and surface preparation is highly advantageous.
- Physical stamina to perform demanding tasks and work in various environmental conditions.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to adhering to stringent quality and safety standards.
- Ability to work harmoniously in a team setting, maintaining open and effective communication with colleagues and supervisors.
Safety & Environmental Factors:
All employees are expected to adhere to the company’s safety policies to maintain a safe and healthy work environment. This role involves working under extreme hot or cold conditions and requires the physical ability to stand for the entire shift, use hands for various tasks, ascend stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, and hear. Team members must occasionally lift items weighing up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required include close, distant, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.

Per Diem (days worked): $178/day
