POSITION SUMMARY  

The complex fitter and welder is a skilled professional responsible for welding together metal components or parts to repair or fabricate products according to blueprints, layouts, or work orders using various welding techniques. This individual is highly independent in being able to take parts, models, and prints. 

 

Hours: M-F, 5AM-1PM

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine the appropriate welding process. 

  • Selecting and setting up welding equipment, including choosing the correct welding method. 

  • Cleaning and preparing metal surfaces for welding, ensuring proper fit and alignment of parts. 

  • Welding components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (flat, vertical, horizontal, overhead). 

  • Monitoring the welding process to avoid overheating, distortion, or other defects. 

  • Inspecting welded joints to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications. 

  • Performing post-welding tasks, such as cleaning, grinding, and polishing, to smooth welds and remove any defects. 

  • Maintaining welding equipment and ensuring it is in good working condition. 

  • Following safety guidelines and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries. 

  • Collaborating with engineers, fabricators, and other team members to meet project requirements and deadlines. 

 

ATTRIBUTES

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Welding and fitting certification is preferred. 

  • Proficiency in various welding techniques (MIG) and product setup. 

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings. 

  • Strong attention to detail and precision in fitting and welding. 

  • Able to lift 50 pounds 

  • Commitment to safety and understanding of safety procedures. 

  • Strong problem-solving skills. 

  • High school diploma/GED preferred
