Job Title: Quality Engineer – Automotive Plant Expansion
 Reports to: Quality Manager
 Salary Range: $70,000 - $75,000
 Position Type: Full-time, Direct-Hire
 
Position Overview:
A prestigious Tier 1 automotive supplier located near Farwell, MI, is seeking a Quality Engineer for a new position within their automotive plant expansion. This is a permanent, direct-hire opportunity offering competitive compensation in a world-class manufacturing environment.
Must have APQP experience & Stamping experience. We need someone who lives in control plans PFEMA and understands how the automotive industry requires an engineer to move through the process of launch equipment or product.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain APQP, PPAP, and ISO-TS 16949 documentation.
  • Prepare and maintain process inspection instructions, reports, and quality alerts.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts, including lean manufacturing, process error-proofing, CPK improvement, and problem resolution.
  • Assist in the design, development, and approval of checking aids and fixtures.
  • Achieve department objectives aligned with production, quality, and safety goals.
  • Work collaboratively across departments to drive continual improvement.
  • Communicate effectively with all stakeholders, including company personnel, customers, and suppliers.
  • Support new program launches and meet customer expectations.
  • Participate in customer visitations and support Quality Assurance Manager in required reports.
  • Handle confidential information with integrity and discretion.
  • Lead and direct internal and external quality system audits (TS-16949 audits, Q1 audits, etc.).
 
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Support quality and safety goals in alignment with company objectives.
  • Participate in plant and department meetings and training sessions.
  • Maintain positive relationships with employees, management, and external partners.
  • Encourage safe practices and lead by example.
  • Promote effective communication and Fair Treatment policies.
  • Participate in Continual Improvement activities and support process optimization.
  • Adhere to customer requirements and company policies.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Quality Assurance Manager.
 
Qualifications:
  • Understanding of how job performance affects product quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with statistical process control, blueprint reading, GD&T, and measuring devices.
  • Knowledge of ISO-TS 16949 and customer quality requirements.
  • Ability to prepare, interpret, and present technical reports and guidelines.
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Flexibility to work additional hours and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Proficiency with relevant software tools and computer applications.
 
Education & Experience:
  • Required: Associate's degree (Bachelor’s in a technical field preferred) or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: At least 5 years in a Quality Engineer role within the automotive industry.
  • Advanced knowledge of customer and ISO-TS 16949 requirements.
  • Experience with automotive fabrication processes.
  • Familiarity with Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) methods.
  • Basic knowledge of tolerance skills, welding, and quality reliability aspects.
 
Work Environment:
  • Combination of office and manufacturing plant, with a focus on the manufacturing plant floor.
  • Must be able to perform essential functions on the plant floor and in meetings.
  • Salary-exempt position, primarily first shift with flexible hours.
  • Occasional travel to customer and tooling facilities as needed.
