Description:
Primary Functions
- Provide overall project leadership to ensure successful outage execution.
- Manage and direct client employees on-site during turbine disassembly and reassembly.
- Deliver outages on time and within budget to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction.
- Thoroughly plan and execute each project; present the plan at the Project Readiness Review prior to mobilization.
- Resolve contract disputes with customers as needed.
- Participate in technical sales visits upon request.
- Conduct Outage Planning Visits and produce required deliverables.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities
Pre-Outage Start
- Review all relevant documentation (scope of work, bid letters, sub-contractor quotes, previous final reports, etc.) in preparation for the Readiness Review.
- Coordinate with the outage team on pre-planning activities (safety, staffing, vendors, equipment, subcontractors, tooling, transportation, and cost-saving measures).
- Confirm the setup crew and tooling delivery schedule with the Project Coordinator (PC) and foremen.
- Finalize the project schedule and oversee setup tasks performed by the PC and foremen.
- Develop task-specific checklists and day/night shift worklists.
- Build rapport with the customer to discuss and finalize the outage work scope.
- Lead the Readiness Review meeting.
- Identify and implement cost-reduction strategies during planning and execution.
During Outage Performance
- Conduct a pre-outage meeting with the customer and Project Coordinator.
- Perform a walkdown of the running unit with the customer, noting visible deficiencies.
- Conduct a thorough survey of the machine, including running data, and compile a unit data sheet for inclusion in the final report.
- Confirm availability of OEM tooling with the foreman.
- Lead the initial job orientation for crew members and ensure a safe work environment.
- Review and approve all PC Activities Lists and timesheets; assume PC duties if no PC is on-site.
- Review and approve Supervisor Activities Lists.
- Monitor task-specific checklists, previous shift logbooks, and photos to track progress.
- Maintain and update a 48-hour work-ahead list and the overall project schedule.
- Generate and distribute daily reports.
- Provide technical guidance to the supervisors and PC.
- Review technical data for the final report and monitor internal cost reports.
- Interact with the customer daily to address any issues or concerns.
- Record final running data.
- Oversee closure activities for both the PC and the supervisors.
- Conduct a final inspection of the turbine deck to ensure cleanliness.
Post Outage
- Prepare and update the Qualification Statement.
- Confirm submission of expense reports for the entire team and turn in all job-related expenses to accounting.
- Coordinate with the customer contact regarding site demobilization.
- Complete the Post Outage Critique document and submit it to the Proposal Manager.
- Compile and deliver the Final Report within 14 business days of the last labor date, ensuring the logbook and dirty data are forwarded to the office.
- Engage in a formal or informal discussion with the customer contact to strengthen the ongoing relationship.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Turbine Outage Experience: Demonstrated expertise managing fast-paced, small-to-large turnkey steam and combustion turbine outages.
- Technical Mastery: Proven experience with Gas Turbine / Steam Turbine / Generator project execution.
- Communication Skills: Ability to interpret and convey technical, commercial, and contractual issues clearly to customers.
- Project Cost Analysis: Skilled in collecting and analyzing project costs.
- Software Proficiency: Competent in Microsoft Office and Adobe.
- Interpersonal Aptitude: Exceptional people skills with the ability to identify and resolve conflict.
- Customer Focus: Driven to ensure customer satisfaction and maintain strong client relationships.
