The Cab Crane Operator is responsible for safely operating overhead cab-controlled cranes to move, stage, and position steel pipe and related materials throughout the manufacturing facility. This role plays a critical part in supporting production flow while maintaining strict safety, quality, and operational standards.
Operate cab-controlled overhead cranes to lift, transport, and position steel pipe, bundles, and materials.
Safely load and unload materials to and from production lines, storage areas, and transport vehicles.
Communicate effectively with riggers, spotters, and production personnel to coordinate lifts.
Inspect crane equipment, rigging, hooks, slings, and safety devices prior to operation.
Follow all safety procedures, lift plans, and manufacturer operating guidelines.
Ensure proper handling of materials to prevent damage and maintain product quality.
Assist with staging materials to support efficient production flow.
Report equipment issues, safety concerns, or operational abnormalities promptly.
Maintain accurate production or movement documentation as required.
Keep work areas clean and organized and comply with housekeeping standards.
Participate in safety meetings, training, and continuous improvement initiatives.
High school diploma or GED required.
Previous experience operating cab-controlled overhead cranes in a manufacturing or industrial environment required.
Crane operator certification preferred.
Experience in steel pipe, tubular, or heavy manufacturing strongly preferred.
Knowledge of rigging practices, load limits, and hand signals.
Strong safety awareness and ability to follow detailed procedures.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, industrial environment.
Physical ability to climb ladders and access crane cabs safely.
Willingness to work shifts, overtime, and weekends as needed.
