Your Role & Responsibilities
As a Cost Accountant, you’ll be embedded in the operations of a dynamic manufacturing setting, providing critical financial insights and ensuring accuracy in every stage of production and reporting.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements including balance sheets and profit & loss reports
- Perform cost accounting functions including build material costing and inventory analysis
- Manage general ledger activity, journal entries, and account reconciliations
- Support monthly close processes, tax filings, and financial reporting
- Accurately account for direct costs through accruals, reconciliations, and cost allocations
- Collaborate with product development to establish cost standards for manufactured products
- Conduct weekly/monthly allocations of labor and materials
- Track project costs, budgets, forecasts, and perform variance analysis
- Reconcile inventory with the general ledger and perform routine inventory reviews
- Accurately accounts for all direct costs through proper accruals, stage payment reconciliations, and cost allocations.
- Collaborates with Product Development to establish cost standards for manufactured products, ensuring alignment with internal cost policies.
- Conducts weekly and monthly allocations of materials and labor in line with company policies and procedures.
- Maintains comprehensive understanding of assigned projects, including budgets, forecasts, actual costs, and variance analysis.
- Performs regular project inventory analyses, cost reviews, and reconciliations with the general ledger.
What You Bring to the Table
- 2+ years of accounting experience – Manufacturing required
- Strong background in cost accounting and financial analysis
- Experience with NetSuite or other ERP systems – Preferred
- Advanced Excel skills – Power BI a plus
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
- Detail-oriented, analytical mindset, and ability to work independently
