This job is a permanent, full-time career opportunity within a premier Sports Medicine Physical Therapy clinic. Purpose
The Sports Medicine Rehabilitation Therapy Aide provides vital clinical and clerical support under the direct supervision of licensed clinical staff—including Physical Therapists (PT), Occupational Therapists (OT), and Speech-Language Pathologists (SLP). In this role, you will assist with non-treatment aspects of therapy services, prepare and maintain therapeutic work areas, manage clinical equipment, and facilitate smooth patient tracking and navigation. This position is essential for maintaining high-quality operational flow and ensuring an exceptional, safe patient experience.
Responsibilities
- Clinical & Patient Support: Check in and escort patients to designated treatment areas, communicate their arrival to the attending therapist, and assist with patient transfers and equipment setups as directed by licensed clinicians.
- Modality Application: Competently apply non-treatment modalities and support patient exercises and activities in strict accordance with state Professional Practice Acts and universal precautions.
- Patient Navigation & Safety: Transport patients and equipment safely and professionally between units and treatment centers. Inform the healthcare team of patient locations while ensuring all immediate safety measures (proper body mechanics, call bells, and bed rails) are applied.
- Clinical Communication: Maintain continuous, open communication with attending therapists regarding a patient's verbal and non-verbal responses to treatment. Document statistics, completed exercises, and operational outcomes as directed.
- Environmental Maintenance: Clean, sanitize, and prepare equipment and patient care areas according to rigid regulatory and infection control standards. Keep the gym floor neat and organized.
- Inventory & Supply Logistics: Perform weekly inventories of medical supplies, coordinate ordering needs with administrative staff, and maintain an adequate supply of clean linens required for daily operations.
- Front Office & Clerical Assistance: Answer departmental phone calls professionally, take messages, maintain daily operational logs, record patient statistics, and assist with filing charges or scheduling appointments as needed.
- Team Onboarding: Assist with the baseline orientation and practical mentoring of newly hired aides and therapy volunteers as requested by clinic leadership.
Minimum Essential Requirements
- Education: High School Diploma or GED, required; special preference given to those who have completed nursing assistant or rehabilitation aide programs.
- Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience working as a therapy technician, rehab aide, or nursing assistant in a clinical or hospital environment.
- Technical Compliance: Computer literacy with the ability to navigate digital scheduling or charting systems.
- Physical Compliance: Thorough working knowledge of proper body mechanics, lifting techniques, and institutional safety/emergency protocols.
- Interpersonal Excellence: Strong verbal and written communication skills with a polished, professional demeanor suitable for interacting with injured athletes, orthopedic patients, physicians, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
