Purpose
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Certified Medical Assistant to join a premier, fast-paced specialty dermatology practice. In this role, you will play a key part in delivering high-quality, compassionate patient care by supporting both clinical workflows and vital administrative operations. This is an ideal position for an adaptable professional committed to delivering an exceptional patient experience in a collaborative clinical environment.
Responsibilities
- Clinical Rooming & Intake: Check daily schedules, manage efficient patient flow, accompany patients to exam rooms, take vital signs, and document comprehensive medical histories and screenings.
- Procedural Assistance: Prepare patient rooms, set up specialized dermatological instruments, and assist providers during clinical examinations and procedures as needed.
- Medication & Lab Support: Manage prescription refills and insurance prior authorizations. Under physician direction, administer injectable medications, perform phlebotomy, and process level-one laboratory tests.
- Infection Control & Inventory: Clean and sanitize exam/procedure rooms, instruments, and equipment between patient visits. Monitor and restock clinical supply inventories.
- Front Office & Communication: Triage patient telephone calls, coordinate chart preparations, verify insurance coverage, and relay clear post-visit or educational instructions to patients and families.
- Regulatory Compliance: Maintain strict confidentiality and accurately record all data within the electronic medical record in accordance with HIPAA, OSHA, CLIA, and Department of Health guidelines.
Minimum Essential Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an approved certified medical assistant program from an accredited organization
- Current/Valid medical assistant certification from organizations accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA), which includes AAMA, AMT, NHA, and NCCT.
- Solid working knowledge of medical terminology, examination, diagnostic, and treatment room workflows.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills with a commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality.
