Overview:
We are seeking a Facilities Project Engineer to support a major manufacturing facility expansion in Memphis, TN. This role will serve as the primary point of contact for large-scale facility upgrades supporting a major production transfer from Mexico and the onboarding of approximately 500 new employees. The Facilities Project Engineer will act as the owner’s representative for up to $20M in capital improvements, including HVAC systems, electrical infrastructure, clean room installation, mezzanine construction, epoxy flooring, and air handling systems. This individual will play a critical role in ensuring the facility is fully prepared for incoming production by managing contractors, coordinating with municipalities for utility upgrades, and overseeing project timelines from design through execution. The role requires strong communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally with leadership, operations, engineering, and external vendors.
Job Duties:
- Lead and manage facility upgrade and capital improvement projects from planning through execution
- Serve as the primary liaison between the company, general contractors, and external vendors
- Oversee construction activities, including HVAC, electrical, clean room installation, mezzanines, and facility infrastructure upgrades
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and deliverables for up to $20M in capital improvements
- Coordinate with municipalities and utility providers for power and infrastructure upgrades
- Work closely with building landlords and site stakeholders to ensure project alignment
- Ensure compliance with safety, building codes, and manufacturing standards
- Track project progress and provide regular updates to leadership and stakeholders
- Support long-term facility planning and future expansion initiatives
- Act as the on-site subject matter expert for facilities and infrastructure once upgrades are complete
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required
- 6+ years of experience in facilities engineering, construction management, or capital projects within manufacturing
- Strong experience managing MEP systems and industrial infrastructure projects
- Proven experience leading facility expansions or major renovation projects
- Experience working with general contractors and external engineering firms
- Familiarity with clean room environments and regulated manufacturing (cGMP preferred)
- Strong project management and organizational skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with executives, engineers, operations teams, and contractors
- Experience with Root Cause Analysis (FRACAS) is a plus
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-growth manufacturing environment
