MFT Migration Project Manager

Location: Hybrid / Remote (as needed) 

Job Type: Contract / Full-Time 

Position Summary 

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead and stabilize a critical managed file transfer migration initiative. This role will be responsible for driving project governance, cross-functional coordination, resource accountability, and delivery execution across application, middleware, backend, and infrastructure teams. 

The ideal candidate has strong experience managing complex migration initiatives, especially involving coordination across multiple platforms, teams, and technical workstreams. 

This individual will play a key role in establishing ownership, improving team engagement, mitigating delivery risks, and ensuring successful execution. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Lead end-to-end project management for a complex MFT migration initiative 

  • Build and manage detailed project plans, milestones, and cutover timelines 

  • Establish strong governance processes including daily standups, weekly status reviews, executive steering updates, and RAID management 

  • Drive accountability across legacy application teams, middleware teams, backend application teams, and infrastructure and support teams 

  • Create and maintain project documentation including project plan, dependency tracker, risk logs, issue logs, and action registers 

  • Coordinate cross-functional technical teams to ensure timely deliverables 

  • Manage resource planning and escalation for critical staffing gaps 

  • Lead knowledge transfer planning for transitioning legacy resources 

  • Facilitate testing, cutover, and go-live readiness activities 

  • Escalate blockers and risks proactively to leadership 

  • Ensure business and technical stakeholders remain aligned throughout the migration lifecycle 

Required Qualifications 

  • 5+ years of Project Management experience 

  • Proven experience leading large scale migration and modernization projects 

  • Strong understanding of enterprise application environments 

  • Experience coordinating across technical teams including middleware, backend, infrastructure, and QA 

  • Demonstrated success in managing projects with significant risks and dependencies 

  • Strong stakeholder management and executive communication skills 

  • Experience with project governance, RAID logs, and milestone tracking 

  • Strong organizational and follow-through skills 

  • Ability to drive accountability across multiple workstreams 

  • Experience with Waterfall, Agile and hybrid methodologies 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • PMP, Scrum Master, or similar certification preferred 

  • Experience with MFT platforms: Fortra Globalscape and IBM Sterling File Gateway 

  • Experience working in Financial and Banking industries
