Weld Engineer

Weld Engineer, Up to $100,000/year – Roseville, MI

Are you an experienced Weld Engineer with a background in Defense, Aerospace, or Automotive manufacturing? We're looking for a Weld Engineer to support prototype and production welding in a low volume, high mix facility. This is a full-time opportunity in Roseville, MI for a company that thrives on innovation, quality, and precision engineering.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Welding Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical or Metallurgical Engineering
Relevant Welding Coursework Program
Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) by AWS required
Certified Welding Engineer (CWEng) by AWS preferred
Minimum 5 years’ experience in weld engineering within a sheet metal manufacturing plant preferred
Previous experience in Defense and/or Aerospace Engineering

Skills and Responsibilities:

Serve as SME in welding equipment, techniques, materials, and quality standards
Ensure adherence to safety protocols and welding procedures
Design and develop weld protocols, specifications, and testing procedures
Conduct material testing and welding procedure qualification tests
Review and improve weld quality performance and resolve welding issues
Provide technical direction and training to welders
Continuously improve welding processes and product quality
Optimize welding equipment, machines, and robotic systems
Strong knowledge of welding codes/standards, metals/alloys, and electrical requirements
Capable in project management, documentation, and cross-functional team leadership

As a Weld Engineer, you will play a critical role in maintaining industry compliance, weld quality, and driving continuous improvement. You'll collaborate across departments and industries to ensure success on challenging projects.
