A well-established law firm in Raleigh, North Carolina, is seeking a skilled and experienced Business Immigration Paralegal to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented professional with a strong understanding of immigration law and procedures to manage a high-volume caseload and contribute to a dynamic legal practice.

Responsibilities:

  • Independently manage a high volume caseload under attorney supervision.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in firm and client processes related to immigration matters.
  • Possess a strong understanding of the procedural and processing requirements for various non-immigrant and immigrant visa petitions and applications, including H, L, TN, O, E, PERM, AOS, etc.
  • Independently analyze case documents to consult effectively with attorneys on strategy and eligibility.
  • Prepare immigration applications, petitions, and specialized support letters detailing eligibility for visa classifications and other immigration benefits for attorney review and filing with the appropriate government agencies.
  • Analyze and identify potential legal and procedural issues within cases.
  • Adhere to strict deadlines and effectively prioritize cases with minimal oversight.
  • Maintain extensive and professional communication with clients throughout the immigration process.
  • Collaborate closely and effectively within a team environment.
  • Assist in the training and mentorship of more junior paralegal staff.
  • Participate in regular package reviews (typically 1 week per month, 1 hour per day).
  • May participate in PERM reviews (typically 1 week per month, 1 hour per day).
  • Contribute to team or office-wide projects, such as the revision of template documents.
  • Maintain and organize client documentation meticulously.
  • Draft professional correspondence related to immigration cases.
  • Maintain direct communication with multiple attorneys.

Qualifications:

  • Degree from an accredited college or university and/or paralegal certification.
  • Typically 2 to 5 years of dedicated experience as an immigration paralegal.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to extract and synthesize relevant case data.
  • Effective problem-solving skills, including the ability to gather and analyze information skillfully.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on the case/task at hand and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to listen effectively, respond to inquiries promptly and professionally, write clearly and informatively, edit work for accuracy, and interpret information accurately and concisely.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to maintain a neat and safe work area, manage files effectively for easy retrieval, organize and prioritize numerous projects/tasks (including potentially heavy caseloads), and maintain a strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated teamwork abilities, including a willingness to help others and share knowledge and skills.
  • Consistent attendance and punctuality.
  • Dependable and able to follow instructions and management direction, with a willingness to work additional hours when necessary to meet firm objectives.
  • Proactive with the ability to take independent action and reasonable risks, and to ask for and offer help when needed.
  • In-depth knowledge of legal processes specifically related to business immigration.
  • Proficient in all Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), VisaTrax/Zoom, and document management systems.
  • Able to operate standard office equipment, including multi-line phones, calculators, cell phones, copiers, fax machines, and scanners.
