Job Title: Clerk (TWIC)

Location: New Orleans, LA

Job Type: Full-Time

Shift: Day Shift; 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, including weekends as needed.

Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented Clerk to support our operations team at a busy stevedoring facility. The Clerk will be responsible for managing paperwork, records, and logistics coordination necessary to facilitate the efficient loading and unloading of cargo at the terminal. This role requires meticulous attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure in various weather conditions.

Responsibilities:

Prepare, organize, and maintain documents related to cargo handling and vessel operations.
Track and record cargo movements accurately within the terminal facility.
Assist in scheduling and dispatching equipment and labor based on operational needs.
Communicate effectively with stevedores, carriers, and other personnel to ensure smooth operations.
Enter data into computer systems and maintain logs and records with high accuracy.
Provide administrative support to ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
Handle cargo manifests and other shipping documents, ensuring they are completed accurately and in a timely manner.

Qualifications:

Must possess a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) Card.
Proven experience in clerical work or similar roles; experience in logistics or stevedoring is preferred.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work both day and night shifts, including weekends, as required.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and data entry; ability to learn new software quickly.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to coordinate with multiple teams simultaneously.

Work Environment:

This role involves working both indoors and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
The work environment may involve exposure to noise, heavy equipment, and potentially hazardous materials requiring the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Adherence to safety protocols is required at all times to ensure a safe working environment. Workers are expected to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) based on the tasks and locations assigned.
Regular training and safety briefings are conducted to maintain high safety standards.
