Location: Burnsville, MN
Pay: $65,000–$80,000 Base + Commission

Job Summary:
The Electrical / Technical Sales Engineer is responsible for driving product sales and providing technical expertise to electrical engineers, contractors, distributors, value-added resellers, and end users. This role requires a strong understanding of electrical systems, the ability to communicate technical information clearly, and a self-driven approach to business development. Success in this role comes from building lasting relationships, identifying new opportunities, and delivering engineered solutions that meet customer needs.
 
Key Responsibilities:
Business Development & Relationship Management
 • Develop and maintain productive relationships with End Users, Engineers, Contractors, Distributors, and Value-Added Resellers (VARs)
 • Identify and establish new business opportunities within the assigned territory
 • Organize and conduct sales visits
 • Collaborate with internal team members on regional sales strategies
 • Establish and execute a territory sales plan aligned with marketing initiatives
Technical Sales & Engineering Support
 • Discuss equipment needs and system requirements with customers and engineers to drive product specifications
 • Conduct technical presentations to educate engineers, contractors, end users, and VARs
 • Generate detailed engineered solutions for presentation, negotiation, and closing
 • Read and interpret one-line diagrams and electrical specifications
 • Translate technical information into clear, understandable solutions for non-technical audiences
Territory Management
 • Travel regionally as required
 • Manage opportunities within CRM systems and maintain accurate sales records
 
Qualifications:
Required:
 • 2+ years of sales experience with a strong understanding of electrical systems
 • Experience in technical sales within the electrical industry
 • Ability to read one-line diagrams and understand electrical specifications
 • Strong presentation skills (including PowerPoint)
 • Excellent negotiation, problem-solving, and sales skills
 • Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical customers
 • Strong time management, planning, and organizational skills
 • Professional verbal and written communication skills
 • Experience with CRM systems such as Oracle, Salesforce, NetSuite, or equivalent
Preferred:
 • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field
 • Graduates of Electrical Engineering programs with strong technical aptitude will be considered
Working Conditions:
This role operates in an office environment with regional travel requirements.
